Packing Clothes For a Move
June 11th, 2020One of the biggest pains during the moving process is figuring out how to move all of the clothes in your closets and drawers from one place to another. This might be a big enough hassle for some people to drive them to consider having movers do it for them!
Choose What Clothes to Take With You
If you want to know how to keep your clothes organized when moving, sort your clothes correctly before moving day. This can save you time, money, and stop you from pulling out your hair when it comes to unpacking and realizing you don’t know where a particular item of clothing is.
Don’t Pack Clothes You Won’t Wear
First, get rid of the following clothing items:
- Clothes you won’t need if you’re moving somewhere with a different climate
- Clothes that are out of style
- Clothes that you or your kids have grown out of
- Clothes that are worn out ripped
- Clothes that you never wear anymore
Donate it to charity or a secondhand store if it still looks nice and isn’t junk. If you don’t donate, throw it out, especially if the clothes are damaged. You might want to keep some clothing items for now if you need to use them to wrap other items during the move.
Group Your Clothes for the Move
Grouping clothes will help your packing process go smoothly, and you’ll be able to get to specific clothes you may need after reaching your destination. If this is too much work for you, you can skip all this and pack the way you would if you’re in a rush.
Material
Cotton and natural fabrics can crease, and you may need to iron them after the move. If you don’t want them to get extremely creased, put them on hangers, and put a clothing bag over the top. Synthetic and polyester clothes can be stuffed into boxes without issue because they don’t crease easily. Fold them as you would with any other clothes and pile them one on top of the other.
Season
This will help you find and unpack the clothes you’ll need right away, and help you ignore unpacking summer clothes when it’s winter and snowing outside.
Need
If you want to be able to find comfortable clothes right away, pack them aside from more formal clothing you won’t need right away will help you quickly find them. You can start doing this well before your move to save time and hassle.
