My Summer Moving ExperienceSeptember 8th, 2016
As we all know in New England, especially in Boston, August is known to be the peak season for people moving to new homes. With students coming back to school, young professionals and adults alike all usually have their leases end near the end of August which makes it even more necessary to reserve reliable movers ahead of time! As an independent woman living by herself, it was crucial for me to get movers that were efficient and affordable. Luckily, I found Rare Moving & Trucking who was timely and has exceeded my expectations!
After researching various moving companies last minute in August, I decided to go with Rare Moving & Trucking since they gave me a quick response back and was the most cost effective for me. I even got a FREE estimate off their site! On August 31st, the second busiest day to move in Boston, the Rare Movers came an hour earlier than our said time. This was perfect since I got to have an earlier start on moving into my new apartment and we got to beat some of the rush hour traffic. I had two movers who were friendly and moved my things effectively without any problems! We communicated very well as to where my things were going to go for each room and they made sure everything was safely placed in my new apartment.
Overall, this was the best moving experience I have ever had and will definitely be contacting Rare Movers if I ever need to move again! The movers knew exactly what to do when loading the truck with my things and were great listeners which are hard to come by these days! Moved College Students to New Apartment in Cambridge MADecember 2nd, 2014
Four Harvard University students were moving to a new apartment in the Cambridge MA area, due to a rodent infestation in their old apartment! They needed to move quick, so they booked our moving services once they found a new apartment to move into.
This new apartment was located on the very top floor of a three story complex, so we knew this would be a challenge, a challenge we would meet and exceed with great success!
The four students each had queen sized beds, one big couch, two love seats, three big screen televisions, kitchen table, and a dining room set. We told them to pack as much things as they possibly could before we arrived on moving day; these things included: clothes, dishes, pots & pans, pretty much all of the smaller items that could fit in a box. We asked them if they needed us to provide them with packaging supplies, and they said they had their own.
It’s important to be as prepared and organized as you possibly can before the big moving day; you don’t want to spend the night before or the day of the move, packing up boxes! This should be done at least a few days before the move!!
We also asked the students to reserve a spot for our truck as close to the front door as possible; you should reserve a spot as close to the front entrance for both the old and new location!
The spot for both the new and old apartment, was reserved for us, so we were able to quickly and efficiently load and unload the truck.
We made sure all of the items made it to the new location safely and in the same condition they entered our care with. Despite the apartment being located on the top floor of the apartment building, we were able to make excellent time, and we finished the move within the estimated time and budget! Our movers are all very experienced, and most of them have had to carry couches and beds up a few dozen flights of stairs!

Completed Move from Boston to Weston MAOctober 24th, 2014
We recently helped a family, who lived in Boston’s North End, move into their new home in Weston MA; they were expecting twins, and didn’t have enough room in their small apartment in Boston.
They recently had a baby shower, so all of their “baby stuff” had to be loaded into the truck, along with their furniture and other belongings; this, of course, was not a problem for us, but it did add to the couple’s stress just a tad!
When they initially scheduled the call, they did not know they were having twins, so they didn’t realize that they would have extra baby objects! Since the wife was pregnant, the couple signed up for our packing services, because it would be a lot of work for one person to lift and pack everything; so we came with all of our packing material, and room by room we started packing things away.
Once everything was packed and labeled, we began the loading process. We made sure to be extra careful with all of their products, especially the baby stuff.
We were able to successfully load everything into the truck because we were able to get a parking spot right outside of their apartment; usually, when clients schedule moves, we ask them to reserve a parking spot as close to their location as possible; with Boston that is extremely difficult, but luckily for us the couple got it done!
The trip to Weston wasn’t too difficult either; we went in the middle of the week, during noon time, so the Mass. Pike was pretty much clear.
If you’re planning on moving, we suggest that you make an appointment a few months in advance so that you have time to pack and get everything organized before the moving day.

Moved a Family of 3 to Newton MAOctober 17th, 2014
We just finished moving a family of three from the South End of Boston to a neighborhood in Newton MA; this couple just had a baby, and they didn’t want to raise her in the city, so they decided to move to a quiet neighborhood in Newton, which is located just miles down the street from Boston.
The couple called us and asked for an estimate for a move from Boston to Newton; we asked them if they lived in an apartment or home, what the parking was like, how many “big” items were they moving, and if they needed our packing supplies and services.
In response to this the couple said that they would be moving three couches, two big screen televisions, a kitchen table, a dining room table, four chairs, and five stools. They also said that they did not need our packing supplies or services. So based on the amount of belongings they were bringing, and based on the fact that they did not need our packing supplies, we were able to give them an accurate estimate.
After we gave them the estimate, they gave us a call back about two days later to schedule a moving day; they told us that they did some research, liked what they read, and also liked the price. So we scheduled a time that worked best for them. After we booked a time, we gave them some of our moving tips, to help them prepare for this adventure!
The moving day arrived, and the couple followed our tips, and had everything packed and ready to go! We carefully grabbed all of their big items first (couches, table, etc.) and loaded them onto the truck. Then, we gathered all of the boxes, and loaded them on the truck as well. We advised the couple to keep their china and glassware with them in their car, just to be safe.
The street their apartment was on was a little bit narrow, which is what they told us during the initial consultation, so we asked them to reserve a parking spot for our truck as close to their apartment as possible; they did exactly what we asked, and the move went great! We did have to climb some stairs, as they were on the fourth floor, but our athletic and experienced moving crew handled the stairs like the professionals they are!
The move went great,we made great timing, and we arrived to Newton right on schedule. The couple was satisfied with our moving services and said that they would recommend our moving services to friends and family!

Back to School MoversAugust 25th, 2014
It’s that time of year again: back to school! College kids from across the country are preparing for the start of the semester; some are moving into dorms, many others are taking that big step into adulthood, and are renting apartments for the first time! If you’re one of the students moving into an apartment, Rare Movers will help with all of your moving needs. S
Schedule an estimate and a moving date today, this is a busy time of year for us, but we still have openings!
We help college students, not only in Boston, but all of the United States! Whether you’re moving to a college across town, across the state, or even across the country, we will help with all of your moving needs.
All you have to do is pickup the phone and schedule a moving date! On the phone, in order to give you an accurate estimate, we will ask you a few specific questions, just to get an idea on what your moving needs are; for example, we will ask the location, parking situations of both locations, how many stairs, and of course, just how much “stuff” are you bringing. The amount of belongings and location are the two most important questions; they will help determine just how much a move may cost.
When we know how much you’re packing, we will be able to determine how big of a truck to bring, and how many crew members to staff.
We are looking forward to helping your move into college be as smooth and stress-free as possible; we understand that college is stressful enough, moving should not be an added pressure!
